Weekly Update // July 1st 2009

July 01, 2009 @ 05:39 am

Wow. This is probably the longest I've gone without doing a post here for the last month. Sorry about that. I've been stuck in one of those I have so much to do that it feels like nothing ever gets done ruts. Fun. I would have had Noel's MySpace music page set up over a week ago, but with their bad coding and my struggles to "trick" the page into doing what I want, it's been taking longer than I wanted.

I did finish braiding my hair. I didn't do a video like I considered, maybe when I get a little more confident. Maybe. :P The last time I braided my hair I was four weeks post. This time, I was going on 12 weeks post. I was worried that since it was only my second time doing it on my own, and that it had been a few months since I learned, I would have a lot of issues. It went a lot faster than I expected. :P I think having more new growth this time made getting the braids closer to my head without slipping. The first time I redid most of my braids before I even had a chance to finish them, because they were slipping to far down. Even after I considered my braids done I found myself redoing loose braids on and off the whole time they were in. The only problem my new growth gave me was trying to section off my hair. The parts are okay, but they could be a lot better.

I was really close to running out of extensions! I wanted my hair longer than the first time, so I wasn't cutting them in half. How close was I? By the time I finished, I had enough left over for one more braid! I did place an order for some more, so I can have it on hand for touch-ups during the next month. But still, that was a close one. And my last braid was on the very top of my head, lol, so there was no hiding that. It took me about 3 days, but I would have been done much quicker if I wasn't taking long "breaks" to work on Noel's page. I only did a few braids the second day. If that weren't the case I could have been done in a day or two. Speaking of hair, I need to type up that product review to share. :P

:weightlifter: What else? No weight loss. Actually, quite the opposite. :grumpy: I tried to start regularly taking chlorella again, but the taste. The taste! Since my last post I only had it once. :( The next day I was feeling sick (unrelated, I had a milder feeling of it the day before I even took it), and I didn't want to risk ingesting something with that smell and taste when I was already trying to keep my stomach calm, lol. I need to suck it up and get used to it. The results when I first started taking it were wonderful.

:dollarsign: I was trying to remember what else to blog about. Then I noticed I totally forgot to start my budget this month (again... again, again, again... maybe another again?). I stuck with it for almost a month the last time; however, I stopped counting that towards my budgeting goal. It was just a way for me to get a really good idea on where my money goes, so I now have a better plan on where to limit my spending. :P

It's 5:30am. I meant to make this a short, quick update post and go to bed for a few hours. That didn't happen, lol. I'll end it here. As soon as I finish Noel's page I'm coming right over here to revamp this site. Promise. :P I'll end it here

Oh wait, I just remembered the main reason I went to blog here, right before I almost clicked to post, lol! Blogathon sign ups are supposed to be tomorrow later today! I can't wait. :smile3: I still haven't decided on a charity to blog for, but I did decide to blog here during the event. :D I'll update more later today, hopefully after I choose. Good night morning.

Hair Care // Update 5

June 24, 2009 @ 12:38 am

I was going to start putting my braids in today, but I'm still working on Noel's layout. I hope to have it finished before I go to bed. It's been years since I've coded a MySpace page, and a "band page" is different to code than a regular one. :shifty: Eh.

I did another wash, protein treatment, and deep condition earlier today so I'm ready. :) I'm 13 weeks post now! I can't wait to see all of my new growth after my 20 weeks. :D Despite shrinkage, I did notice my hair was reaching longer, so I'm more than excited. I just hope I still have some sort of technique to get the braids at least half decent. I'm considering doing a video tutorial for it. My problem wasn't the actual braiding, it was getting the extensions in close enough to my scalp. While searching I noticed that this was the problem many people were having. I just don't like seeing myself on video, so putting it on the Internet would be a huge step for me. I have until tomorrow to decide. :P

Web Resources: Hosting

June 20, 2009 @ 01:23 pm

I have been purchasing hosting and domains since 2003. After all of these years, I still find myself giving a lot of time, thought, and research before doing either one. I have moved hosts for reasons from finding a much better deal for my money, to having a host that doesn't reach their uptime expectations, to just not liking cPanel suddenly taken away. I may sound picky, but finding a good web hosting service and getting your move situated takes time, patience, and for those earning with their sites, money. Many people do not have the time nor the money to search and spend only to get stuck with a bad host.

While I have been very happy with my current web host, I still occasionally look around for that better deal, since that's how I ended up with them in the first place! Web Hosting Geeks is a wonderful source to find the right web and domain hosts. They break down their lists with ranks, features, and even reviews. I was curious and checked out a few categories of their Best Web Hosting Awards for 2008 for those of you looking for something more specific to your needs (Best Budget Web Hosting and Best PHP Web Hostings are just two examples). I ended up on the Multiple Domain Web Hosting, which proved itself to be extremely useful for me, since I purchased a domain for here and several others without a place for all of them. I will definitely reviewing this list over carefully.

No matter what you're looking for in a host, Web Hosting Geeks can break things down for you and help you find the perfect host for you.

Ambitious Blog.net!

June 20, 2009 @ 08:19 am

I meant to create another blog entry right after my Hair Care update, but as you can see by the time on the post, I had to go to bed. I should be sleeping right now, lol.

I mentioned that I had a few blog related things to talk about. Actually, it's not much. I'm almost done with Noel's Myspace so I'll have more time to work over here; however, I did purchase a domain for Ambitious! AmbitiousBlog.net, actually. There's nothing there yet. Really, nothing, lol! I've been trying to cut back on spending, but there was a sale on domains and I've made the mistake of not registering a domain I wanted before it was taken (twice!), so I went ahead and did it. I'm holding off on moving things right now since I'm so busy. I'll probably just wait until I have the new layout done and move the blog the day I put it up. In the meantime, keep visiting here. ;)

Feeling Blu?

June 20, 2009 @ 06:04 am

Are you feeling Blu? This post may cheer you up.

I love video games. I may not have time for them like I used to, but I love them. My very first website was a fan site for the Tomb Raider game series. While I've only owned Playstation systems, I'd be interested in an Xbox in addition. While I'm "loyal" to my system, I won't lie: I do want to try the popular games for the other side. If you're like me and don't have the money for one right now, why not try your luck at BluFrog to win one? Not only are they giving away the system to a lucky winner, they're throwing in a couple of games and other extras to break in a new system.

Already own an Xbox? Not interesting in gaming? BluFrog has other awesome prizes you could win. For those of you who'd rather put down the controller and really get out of the house for a while, how does a trip to New York sound? A trip to Chicago? What about Orlando or Aspen? That's right, you can enter to win a trip to any of those places!

heck out the site and make sure you meet the requirements. Comment, tweet, or blog for a chance to win! I already do all three of those for fun regularly, and you may too. Why not do so now, only today do it with the opportunity to win big.
